there are only fifty days left in the days-till-marriage countdown, and i couldn’t be more thrilled.
i’m kind of exhausted today, emotionally speaking. yesterday it rained all afternoon. being shoeless stopped being fun at about 1 o’clock. i had the opportunity to walk a couple miles downtown with some students from graham high school though, and that was awesome. there were 14 students who organized and led themselves on a barefoot walk through downtown bluefield, va…in the pouring rain. major props to nancy, haylie and maggie for organizing, and to all the other students who participated and let me walk with them. they are truly inspirational.
after my two mile barefoot excursion, i went to a meeting downtown for the Wade Center. please continue to pray all the more fervently for Wade, and especially for Brian and Debbie Checchio. many tears were shed at the meeting, but i truly believe that God will use the conversations had last night to bring much healing. our tears were a salve.
the cry of my heart this morning was for God to grant the staff and congregation at Wade to be “shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves”. please be lifting us all up to the Father. God is still doing a good work here, and i truly believe that the opportunity for God’s glory to be most fully revealed at Wade is upon us, not just in spite of, but because of this difficult season.
“I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. therefore, be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves…there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.”
